This course is designed to assist students to assume their role as a member of the health care team. Concepts relating to leadership and management skills are included to facilitate the transition to professional nursing.



Course Learning Outcomes
1.) Utilize the steps of the nursing process, including assessment, establishing goals, planning interventions, and evaluating interventions in the role of the PN to assist the RN in patient care. 
2.) Safe and effective care environment by collaborating with the healthcare team to provide culturally sensitive care. 
3.) Health promotion and maintenance by assisting the healthcare team by demonstrating effective communication and educating the patient and family in the care management of health problems particular to the older adult.
4.) Psycho social integrity: Assist the healthcare team by using critical thinking skills in implementing nursing interventions to help patients and families cope with the psycho social impact of health disorders and the aging process.
5.) Physiological integrity: Assist in creating an evidence based plan of care for patients with medical- surgical disorders and common disorders of the aging patient.
