This course presents a survey of microorganisms with morphology, physiology, taxonomy, and the relationship of microorganisms to disease. The lab will include procedures for culturing, identifying, and manipulating microorganisms.

Course Learning Outcomes

Apply understanding of scientific study in reference to microbiological organisms.
Differentiate characteristics of each major group of microbes.
Distinguish between bacteria, archaea, eukaryotes, and viruses.
Analyze importance of molecular processes and applications.
Examine concepts relating to infectious disease, epidemiology, and immunology.
