Introduction to the study of drugs which affect various body systems. Various pharmacological classifications, dose ranges, actions, side effects, and methods of administration of commonly-prescribed medications. Foundation for legal guidelines for safe and effective drug preparation and administration.



Course Learning Outcomes
1. Utilize the steps of the nursing process, including assessment, establishing goals, planning interventions, and evaluating interventions with patients for administration of pharmacologic agents. 
2. Identify the legal aspects affecting the administration of medications.
3. Identify foundations and principles of Pharmacology.
4. Apply knowledge of pharmacoogical classifications, actions, dosages, side effects, and safe methods for administration of commonly prescribed medications.
5. Utilize current technology to facilitate patient education and administration of medications in the clinical setting.
