An examination of job seeking strategies with emphasis on the written and oral communications necessary to market one’s potential. Emphasis on developing effective application correspondence, follow-up correspondence, and interviewing techniques for use in a competitive job market occurs.
Course Learning Outcomes
| 1. The learner should be able to conduct a self-assessment identifying adaptive and transferable skills, job related skills, and career interests. |
| 2. The learner should be able to develop a professional cover letter and resume by the end of the class. |
| 3. The learner should be able to construct effective job searching techniques including: informational interviews, job shadowing, locating job openings using traditional and non-traditional techniques, and completing a professional application. |
