Contemporary nursing of the childbearing family through normal antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum experiences. Overview of common health problems and high-risk complications for mother and newborn. Includes a clinical inpatient component.
Course Learning Outcomes 1. Utilize the nursing process differentiating between normal and abnormal in postpartum, newborn, and labor assessment
2. Collaborate with the healthcare team and childbearing family to provide culturally sensitive care.
3. Assist the healthcare team by demonstrating appropriate communication and education for the childbearing family.
4. Assist the neonatal/obstetric healthcare team by using appropriate psychosocial interventions individualized to each childbearing family.
5. Assit is creating evidence-based maternal and newborn care plans.
6. Demonstrate competency in providing labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care under the supervision of a nursing preceptor.
