DEA 312 - Dental Radiography I


CAREER AND TECHNICAL CREDIT TYPE
3 credit(s)

An introduction to the physics and biology of radiation, radiation hygiene, and dental x-ray equipment and care. Includes theory and application of intraoral film exposure utilizing the paralleling technique and processing chemistry and techniques. Attention to infection control methods is emphasized.



Course Learning Outcomes
1. Recall the foundation of dental radiography and the production of X-rays. 

2. Describe the physiologic dangers resulting from the misuse of dental radiographic equipment. 

3. Explain the essential components of the darkroom and their arrangement for effective use. 

4. Expose radiographs commonly required in the dental office by using the XCP “paralleling” technique and following the “Universal Precautions.”
