CHM 176 - General Chemistry II

Prerequisites:
Grade of C or better in CHM 165   or CHM166

Students can only gain credit from CHM175 OR CHM176, not both.

A continuation of CHM 166 with emphasis on thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, electrochemistry, solubility products, pH, buffers, metal complexion, acid-base theory, nuclear chemistry and carbon compounds.



Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Examine the chemical forces that hold the components of matter together.
  2. Perform quantitative manipulations occurring during chemical and physical changes.
  3. Examine the macroscopic properties of matter based on molecular pictures
  4. Demonstrate proficiency using various laboratory techniques in inorganic and physical chemistry.
