CHM 165 - General Chemistry I

Prerequisites:
High school chemistry or CHM101 within the past 5 years (with B or above) and 2 years high school algebra or equivalent college math

Students can only gain credit from CHM165 OR CHM166, not both.

A systematic study of the principles of inorganic chemistry with emphasis on scientific measurement, atomic structure, chemical bonding, nomenclature, stoichiometry and chemical reactions.



Course Learning Outcomes

1. Examine the properties of matter qualitatively.

2. Perform quantitative manipulations occurring during chemical and physical changes.
3. Examine atomic structure of matter.
4. Examine the chemical forces that hold the components of matter together.
5. Predict the properties of matter based upon periodicity.
