This course examines and applies sociological principles to the life cycle of marriage and family. Topics include diverse family structures and contemporary social issues confronting families such as, but not limited to, dating, marriage, parenthood, family violence, divorce, and remarriage.

Identify various forms of family patterns.
Examine sociological concepts and theoretical perspectives in the study of marriage and families.
Compare trends of marriage and family relationships in the U.S. and the world.
Highlight emerging patterns, policies, and social reactions towards dynamic family forms.
