BIO 901 - Introductory Research in Biology

This course will provide an introduction to biological research including basic research methodology and application of the scientific method. Student will complete a research laboratory or field project under the supervision of faculty, with a presentation of findings.



Course Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
2. Utilize the Scientific Method to develop a research question and a corresponding testable hypothesis.
3. Identify the common uses and parameters of methods in scientific inquiry including survey, blind testing, observational studies and experimentation. 
4. Identify the important parameters in the design of an experiment.
5. Apply skills in scientific research and data analysis.  
6. Develop skills in communication and presentation of results. 
7. Utilize skills and technologies involved in Biological Research.
