MAT 267 - Differential Equations

AA Approved

Prerequisites:
Grade of C- or better in MAT 216
STANDARD CREDIT TYPE
4 credit(s)

Solution methods for ordinary differential equations. First order equations, linear equations, constant coefficient equations. Eigenvalue methods for systems of first order linear equations. Introduction to stability and phase plane analysis. Laplace transforms and series solutions to ordinary differential equations.

Course Learning Outcomes
  1. Identify types of differential equations.
  2. Solve first-order linear equations.
  3. Solve homogeneous and non-homogeneous 2nd order differential equations by means of variation of parameters and undetermined coefficients.
  4. Transform a higher order linear differential equation into a system of first-order linear equations; use matrix solution methods to determine solutions.
  5. Use power series methods to extract solutions for higher-order differential equations.
