IND 112 - OSHA 10 Hour Utility Industry Prerequisites: IND 113 CAREER AND TECHNICAL CREDIT TYPE 1 credit(s)
This course will give the students an understanding of the history of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and how to identify safety and health hazards associated with the following areas: walking and working surfaces, exit routes, emergency action plans, fire protection, fire prevention, electrical safety, personal protective equipment, hazardous chemicals, material handling (Industrial trucks), machine guarding, fall protections, LOTO, and confined space.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successfully completing this course, students should be able to:
1. Describe the OSHA act and how it affects industry
2. Choose the proper PPE for various conditions.
3. Describe chemical hazards and first aid techniques for exposure to chemicals.
4. explain various safety literature
5. Choose the correct fire extinguisher for a particular type of fire.
6. Explain electrical and machine safety.
7. Explain lockout tag out procedures.
8. Describe safe working practices.
