ESL 076 - Introduction to US Culture


DEVELOPMENTAL CREDIT TYPE

This course introduces students with a beginner to intermediate English level to different aspects of culture in the United States. By exploring US culture through listening, speaking, reading, and writing tasks, students can better acclimate to life in the US while simultaneously improving their English language skills.



Course Learning Outcomes
1. Identify and discuss the major historical and cultural factors that have shaped US culture into what it is today.
2. Demonstrate a knowledge of and an appreciation for the cultural differences and similarities of the US and students’ home cultures.
3. Show marked improvement in academic English communication skills.
