EDU 282 - Field Experience: Exploring Teaching Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in EDU 160 or PSY 121 and/or PSY 111 or instructor approval; Corequisites: EDU 240
STANDARD CREDIT TYPE 1 credit(s)
This course offers students the opportunity to observe and familiarize themselves with roles and responsibilities of classroom teachers in the school environment. This 34-hour field experience course will take place in an area K-12 school under the guidance of a mentor classroom teacher. Students must complete, and successfully pass, a criminal background check prior to beginning their field experience.
Course Learning Outcomes
- The learner should be able to examine and identify the varying roles of a K-12 classroom teacher.
- The learner should be able to demonstrate an understanding of how K-12 students learn and develop.
- The learner should be able to understand the importance of implementing strategies supporting K-12 student, building, and district goals.
- The learner should be able to illustrate examples of principles learned in Human Growth and Development (EDU 160 ), (PSY 121 ), and/or Introduction to Psychology (PSY 111 ), and/or Educational Psychology (EDU 240 ).
