History of the legal system, legal rights and social effects of laws. Topics include contracts, agency, commercial paper, personal property, and bailment.
Course Learning Outcomes 1. Explain the general legal boundaries that define the regulation of business, including the general parameters of business association law, tax law, and commercial law.
2. Explain basic commercial law principles that govern at least one of the following areas: sale of goods, creation and enforcement of security interests in personal property, or real estate transactions.
3. Identify relevant legal issues and to understand, interpret and apply statutes and case law in the area of at least one of the following areas at a developing level: commercial law, bankruptcy law, or real estate law.
4. Engage in critical thinking to predict outcomes and recommend appropriate action on issues relating to business associations, income taxation, and commercial and/or real estate law.
