AGE 227 - Young Horse Training III

Prerequisites:
Grade of C- or better in AGE 226, grade of C- or better at midterm for AGE 175 and AGE 214

The student will green break a horse utilizing handling, grooming, and training methods learned in previous courses. The student will teach the horse beginning elements of self-carriage and the horse will be started over basic trail obstacles.

Course Learning Outcomes

1. Utilize skills to train a horse to perform basic gaits under saddle in a small confined area.

2. Utilize skills to train a horse to perform basic gaits and maneuvers under saddle in an arena.
