An introduction to writing poetry, short fiction, and creative nonfiction. A writer’s workshop is conducted throughout the term. Emphasis on revision.
Course Learning Outcomes 1. Define key elements in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry including literary terms, concepts and techniques.
2. Evaluate his/her own work and the work of his/her classmates, and provide constructive criticism in a collaborative workshop setting.
3. Complete a 20-25 page portfolio of revised creative nonfiction, poetry and contemporary fiction.
4. Model techniques of established writers and apply them to his or her own work
