DRA 130 - Acting I STANDARD CREDIT TYPE 3 credit(s)
An introduction to the basic elements of acting based on the Stanislavski System. Students will learn script and character analysis through both monologues and scene work. Vocal and physical exercises will be emphasized to help students control both voice and body while on stage or on camera.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Define and explain the vocabulary used by actors and directors. |
2. Define and explain the various types of obstacles a character might face. |
3. Define emotional recall/memory and explain why it is an important tool in acting. |
4. Identify and describe how an actor analyzes a script for character traits. |
5. Describe how the “Magic If” is used by actors in rehearsal and performance. |
