Course provides an overview of firearms history and development. Includes history of firearms and ammunition, firearms parts nomenclature, cycles of operation, basic troubleshooting and repair procedures.



Course Learning Outcomes
1. Discuss the history of firearms and identify significant events. 
2. Describe the evolution of ammunition and systems of caliber/cartridge nomenclature. 
3. Explain the seven basic functions common to modern firearms. 
4. Describe the basic operation of manually operated long gun actions and how the seven basic functions apply. 
5. Describe the basic operation of handgun actions and how the seven basic functions apply. 
6. Describe the basic operation of self-loading long guns and how the seven basic functions apply.
