FLG 141 - Elementary German I

A beginning-level course in the German language with primary emphasis on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Students learn German pronunciation and vocabulary to be able to converse about their personal lives and also be able to understand when German is spoken to them. Students also develop an awareness of life and culture in German-speaking countries.



Course Learning Outcomes
1. Develop speaking skills by engaging in simple conversations with intonation and syntax of German speakers about personal lives and experiences.

2. Comprehend short written and oral texts from a variety of sources.

3. Develop a cultural awareness of the differences and similarities between German-speaking countries and North America.

4. Develop writing skills by expressing ideas using correct German word order, grammar, and syntax.
