Discussion of the mass communication process, the characteristics and responsibilities of the mass media, and the relationship of the mass media to society. Understand the history of the mass media and how it has evolved into the modern interactive mass media of today.
Course Learning Outcomes 1. Interpret and judge mediated information, persuasion and entertainment.
2. Observe and identify bias in the media.
3. Recognize and evaluate ethical situations commonly faced by mass media professionals.
4. Contrast the key turning points in the history and development of each of the traditional mass media as well as new media delivery systems.
