Early Childhood: Child Development Certificate

1.  Graduates of the two-year Child Development program will be able to develop a program that will take into consideration all facets of the preschool child’s behavior and development including interaction with peers, parents, and community.

In addition, graduates will be able to manage the business aspects of a child care center; maintain high nutritional and health standards; supervise assistants, student observers and helpers/volunteers; work closely with parents and families; and continue their professional growth.

2.  Graduates of the Child Development Certificate Program will be qualified to work in a childcare center under the direction of a supervisor. 

3.  120 hours of working in a formal ECE setting are required for the National C.D.A. (Child Development Associate) Certificate, students must complete 50 hours outside of the program.  

4.  Students seeking a National Child Development Associate Certificate must complete 360 above the require 120.

A grade point of 2.00 or above required for each program requirement for successful completion.
