Explores the properties and uses of common classes of organic compounds with emphasis on nomenclature, structural principles, and reaction mechanisms. Alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alcohols, ethers, polymers, stereochemistry, and benzene are covered. This course does not have a laboratory component and is not intended to replace Organic Chemistry.



Course Learning Outcomes
1. Describe organic molecules using correct structural information and nomenclature.

2. Identify and characterize organic reactions.

3. Identify organic functional groups.

4. Classify the stereochemistry of organic compounds.
