ACM 112 - Animal Handling




Corequisites:
Enrollment in ACM 110  Introduction to Animal Care and Management or completion of ACM 110  with a C or higher.

Introduces the principles and techniques of animal handling and restraint. Topics include handling and control techniques for lab animals, domesticated animals, exotics, wildlife and non-human primates.  Focus given to techniques to decrease stress while handling.



Course Learning Outcomes
  1. Discuss techniques for handling for select invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals and non-human primates. 
  2. Identify the major causes of stresses on the animal during handling and how to prevent them.
  3. Demonstrate the proper restraint for select species.
