Survey of biochemistry that will include topics such as structure and function of amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids; enzymology; metabolism; biosynthesis; and selected topics.



Course Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe the structure and function of the 4 major classes of biomolecules.
  2. Perform calculations related to aqueous systems, pH, energy, enzyme kinetics and inhibition.
  3. Describe experimental techniques used in the purification and analysis of proteins.
  4. Demonstrate a knowledge of DNA technology applications.
  5. Explain the dynamics of biological membranes and signal transduction.
  6. Describe metabolic processes involved with the main classes of biomolecules and their metabolic regulation.
