Introduction to the study of drugs which affect various body systems. Various pharmacological classifications, dose ranges, actions, side effects, and methods of administration of commonly-prescribed medications. Foundation for legal guidelines for safe and effective drug preparation and administration.
Course Learning Outcomes
| 1. Utilize the steps of the nursing process, including assessment, establishing goals, planning interventions, and evaluating interventions with patients for administration of pharmacologic agents. |
| 2. Identify the legal aspects affecting the administration of medications. |
| 3. Identify foundations and principles of Pharmacology. |
| 4. Apply knowledge of pharmacoogical classifications, actions, dosages, side effects, and safe methods for administration of commonly prescribed medications. |
| 5. Utilize current technology to facilitate patient education and administration of medications in the clinical setting. |
