PHS 120 - Exploring Physical Science

Prerequisites:
1 year high school algebra or college equivalent

Laboratory course designed to introduce the physical sciences to students with limited science background. Topics in chemistry, physics, and at least one of the following: geology, astronomy, or meteorology.



Course Learning Outcomes
  1. Explain basic concepts of physics and solve problems on mechanics, waves, and electricity.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental concepts of Chemistry and solve problems on the periodic table, Atoms, Molecules and chemical reactions, and radioactivity.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic concepts in the areas of geology, meteorology, and astronomy.
  4. Apply the scientific method to carry out experiments in a laboratory environment.
