PET 105 - Basic Athletic Training STANDARD CREDIT TYPE 3 credit(s)
Provides students with knowledge of the profession of the certified athletic trainer, factors associated with injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, emergency care of athletic injuries, protective equipment, basic organization, and administrative and legal concepts in the athletic training setting. Allows the student athletic trainers to gain a working knowledge of the basic skills required to become a certified athletic trainer.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Describe the full range of expectations and requirements for becoming a successful Certified Athletic Trainer.
- Demonstrate proficiency in applying the concepts of the human anatomy with athletic training.
- Integrate aspects of environmental safety to situational or conditional assessment in athletic training situations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in identification, prevention, and evaluation of athletic injuries.
- Identify proper selection, use and fitting of protective equipment for athletes.
