Acquaints the student with advanced practiced row crop management with primary focus on corn and soybeans. Areas of study include forage production, plant development, variety selection, seedbed preparation and planting, pest management, harvesting, and storage.

1. Explain production trends that provide sound economic benefits to producers of grains and forages. |
2. Identify soil and climate characteristics that effect growth, morphology, and yield. |
3. Outline growth stages of various grain and forage crops.
4. Compare genetics and performance testing processes that will ensure proper selection of varieties and cultivars of grain and forages for maximum profits. |
5. Develop realistic yield goals and estimate costs of production for crops raised in various climates and soils. |
