ESP 120 - Contemporary Issues in Esports

Explore issues such as the history of esports, the political, social, and economic implications of a global industry.  Further, we will explore the role that socio-cultural issues such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, (dis)ability and age play in the understanding and practice of esports.  The student will engage in research, discussion and problem solving in order to better understand and assess significant current issues.



Course Learning Outcomes
Upon taking this course, students should be able to:

  1. Discuss the history of Esports.
  2. Discuss the economic impact of Esports in a global society.
  3. Discuss the contemporary implications of Esports in a global society.
